7 Hanukkah Foods Everyone Will Love

Not everyone celebrates Hanukkah, but everyone will applaud these Hanukkah dishes.

By: Courtney Reimer

Whether you celebrate Hanukkah or not, there's a lot to love with the festive foods traditionally served during this Jewish holiday. Below are some of our favorites, try them out and tell us what you think!

1. Latkes. Probably the most iconic Hanukkah food, these delicious potato pancakes are pretty universally loved -- the only debate is about whether they are better with sour cream or applesauce.

2. Beef Brisket. The most traditional of Hanukkah main dishes, it's a cozy, satisfying dish that will leave everyone sated and happy.

3. Jelly donuts. (Yes, jelly donuts!) Also known as sufganiyot, these sweet treats are bound to please at any time of day.

4. Challah. If you've never had this delicious, braided egg bread, you are in for a serious treat. The holy bread is served on Jewish holy days (and every Friday, the Jewish sabbath), and bonus: if you have leftover pieces, they work great for French Toast.

5. Noodle kugel. Also known as noodle pudding, it's a common Jewish dish made from egg noodles, and comes in sweet or savory varieties.

6. Rugelach. A rolled pastry that can have jelly, nut, chocolate (or virtually any) filling, it's a two-bite delight that pairs so well with a good cup of coffee.

7. Matzo ball soup. Also knowing as "Jewish penicillin," this chicken soup is just what the doctor ordered on a cold December day.
